Mood Board: British Colonial Study

This mood board was developed for a client interested in a British Colonial-inspired study.  Applying this design style to a study or office space can evoke a feeling of focus and simultaneously inspire the

adventurous spirit. This mood board was created with a large, spacious office with whitewashed walls in mind to both accommodate the larger furniture selections and showcase the warm mahogany and teak materials of the desk, writer’s table and bookcase. The larger space also allows for the installation of a large shutter window that will allow plenty of natural light into the space, while allowing for adjustments in how much light enters in and ensuring the option of privacy and security. Artificial lighting is also an option with the inclusion of a lamp bringing in more of the organic shape observed throughout the composition as well as texture with its ratton shade. The accompanying bamboo chairs provide the room with a breathable texture against the soft texture of the faux tiger rug, the combination encouraging time to be comfortably spent in this room. Decor such as the tropical-style plants, voyage-inspired canvas painting, map, globe and traveler’s chest all introduce a balance of organic, rectilinear and curvilinear shapes to the overall design composition and provide a sense of character and personalization to the room while directly speaking to the endless possibilities of adventures one can plan in this space.
